9-hour Novena to the Infant Jesus of Prague

Last month, I found at home a prayerbook that I cannot recall where I got from. Its the Novena to the Infant Jesus of Prague.

I am still in a state of amazement how many small requests were answered immediately. It has been a source of strength for me that I don't anymore count how many I have said. It is just automatic by the turn of the hour that I will look at the clock to confirm the time, and quickly pray when I can push aside work for a couple of minutes.

Let me just share with you the prayer.

Mass schedule at the Shrine of the Mother of Perpetual Help

Mama Gloria Bernardo and I regularly go to the Shrine of the Mother of Perpetual Help (also known as Redemptorist Church and Baclaran Church) to hear Wednesday Mass and pray the Novena. Sometimes, we will miss the 5:30am schedule...and getting the next available schedule would require googling the internet.

Though this is not Saint Gabriel related, would post the schedule here for those who frequent the Shrine.

Church Trip: Chapel of the Eucharistic Lord

I had a meeting at SM Megamall the other day when I saw the Chapel of the Eucharistic Lord...and thought of "checking in". Was taking pictures when the noon Mass started. So I just decided to stay for a full hour.

The homily was about a wedding where many people were invited as guests. One came not in his best wedding attire. The host was insulted and ordered the guest be thrown out.

Everyday, we are invited to be with Him. Out of respect and gratitude, we come prepared, in our very best...only the best.

Eulogy for Grandma Ruperta

Lola Ruperta was laid to rest last friday, September 10. To the friends of the family, thank you for the memories.

First, we thank you for coming. This is very nice… a record gathering of relatives and friends of lola Ruperta. Pang Guiness Book of World Records for the largest get-together of oldies!

Cremation

I just had the amputated leg of lola Ruperta C. Bernardo blessed by Fr. Benedict at Saint Gabriel.

Carrying the leg in a small wooden box was a little creepy. But its lola's.

After going through the interment requirements with an Eternal Garden staff, we decided to have the leg cremated.

Learned a lot. Now I know that a leg will require the same procedure and documents as burying a whole body. And we cannot open the niche inside the mausoleum by ourselves. We need to ask assistance from Eternal Gardens. Thank you Wenny and Oret for the help.

Odd News: Ohio Jesus statue struck by lightning

MONROE, Ohio – A six-story-tall statue of Jesus Christ with his arms raised along a highway was struck by lightning in a thunderstorm Monday night and burned to the ground, police said.
